Kids safety and parents
Last updated October 26, 2026
This page is for parents and guardians. It describes the safety limits that are actually turned on in Kemy. Using Kemy is covered by the Terms of Service, which ask that children under 13 use Kemy only with a parent or guardian’s permission, and that a parent or guardian agree to the Terms for anyone under 18. It is not a legal certification, and Kemy does not claim a COPPA safe-harbor seal or any other kids-privacy badge.
Age
Signing up asks for a birthday month and year, and shows a note asking the player to enter it honestly. The player types that birthday. Kemy does not check an ID, and it does not have a form a parent must sign. If the birthday is under 13, or if no birthday is saved, the stricter limits below stay on. A moderator can also mark an account as possibly under 13, which turns the same limits on. Once a birthday is saved, only the studio owner or a human moderator can change it.
What under-13 accounts can and cannot do
- They can watch, play games, and use public chat as a list of friendly phrases. They cannot type their own chat.
- They cannot post to the public feed, upload a photo, video, or voice, go live, or add a story.
- Their display name is picked from a list of word pairs, such as “Sunny Panda”. They do not get a bio, a website, pronouns, or a profile photo. Kemy does not ask for a real name.
- Their profile page is private. Other players cannot open it.
- Friend requests are off. They can still follow the Lone Keem Studios account, which is how new videos are announced.
- They never see posts a creator marked 13+ or 17+. Those posts are hidden everywhere in the app for them.
- A 4-digit parent PIN in Settings can limit chat, time, and purchases. It is not a verifiable parent-consent check, and it cannot turn these under-13 limits off.
Age filters on posts
Creators can mark a post All ages (the default), 13+ only or 17+ only. The Community Guidelines still ban nudity, sexual content, real violence or gore, hate and bullying at every rating, and moderators can re-rate or remove a post.
- Signed in with a birthday saved: Kemy uses the birth month and year to hide posts rated above the player’s age. Under 13 sees neither 13+ nor 17+ posts. Ages 13 to 16 do not see 17+ posts.
- Signed out, or no birthday yet: a 13+ or 17+ post asks “I’m 13+” or “I’m 17+” before it shows. That is on the honor system and is remembered on that device. For the strongest filtering, have your child use Kemy signed in to their own account, with their real birthday.
- Community movies rated 18+ are blurred until the viewer confirms they are 18 or older.
- Age filters depend on the birthday a player typed, so they lower the chance of a child seeing a rated post but can’t guarantee it.
Everyone, including teens
- Players cannot privately message each other.
- Public chat blocks links, phone numbers, emails, and invites to other apps.
- Questions that ask for an age, address, or school, ask if someone is alone, ask for a picture, or say not to tell a parent are blocked. That attempt is sent to the moderation panel.
- Every other player’s name and every chat line has Block and Report. Reports include the recent chat and show up for moderators. A chat line is hidden after three different people report it. Posts already hide the same way.
- There are no ads, ad IDs, or ad trackers.
- Nothing can be bought with real money in Kemy. Star Coins and Diamonds are free in-app points.
- Never meet anyone from Kemy in person. Kemy is not for meetups, and asking for personal details is blocked.
Data Kemy keeps
An account needs an email and a password (or Google sign-in), handled by Firebase. Kemy also keeps the profile, the birthday month and year, posts and game data for accounts that are allowed to create them, and safety reports. It does not ask for a street address, a school, a real name, contacts, or GPS. Push notifications, if someone turns them on, store a device token and a time zone for quiet hours, not a map location.
Delete an account
In the app, open Settings or Edit profile and tap Delete my account and data. That deletes the Firestore data the signed-in player is allowed to delete, then deletes the login. A short note can remain for the studio owner: the display name, @username, and the dates the account joined and left. No email is kept on that note. Reports may be kept for safety. Photos and videos already uploaded can remain on the media host even after they disappear from the app. Ask for those files to be removed with the form below.
Contact Keem
Sign in and use Message the Kemy team (also in Settings and Help). Choose Feedback or Bug. Only the studio owner can read it. There is no public email address on this page. Kemy does not reply inside a player-to-player inbox, because those messages are turned off.
